WARBEAST DEBUT ALBUM OUT APRIL 27

WARBEAST TO RELEASE THEIR DEBUT ALBUM KRUSH THE ENEMY APRIL 27th ON HOUSECORE RECORDS

ALBUM PRODUCED BY PHILIP H. ANSELMO

With the “retro-thrash” trend back in full-swing and hordes of bands trying to recreate “old school metal”, Texas monsters WARBEAST offer the real thing. Their music is not the result of careful study of 80’s thrash or classic metal; it just comes naturally because that is who they are.

The roots of WARBEAST are firmly entrenched in the legendary 80’s Texas underground metal scene. Vocalist Bruce Corbitt was the voice of speed metal splatter kings Rigor Mortis, who achieved major label success on Capitol Records in 1988. Guitarists Rick Perry and Scott Shelby were the masters behind the riff machine Gammacide, one of Texas’ most furious thrash exports. Bassist Alan Bovee joined Gammacide when they re-united in 2006, and drum tornado Joe Gonzalez provided blast beats and mayhem for Dallas death metal band Demonseed.

Krush the Enemy, WARBEAST’S debut CD will be released April 27th on Philip H. Anselmo’s HOUSECORE RECORDS. The record features ten tracks covering a wide range of metal terrain aimed squarely at the neck-snapping head banger in the front row.

Not only does Philip H. Anselmo run the label that WARBEAST’S debut album is being he released on, he produced the record as well. Vocalist Bruce Corbitt had the following to say about signing to HOUSECORE RECORDS and working with Philip on the production of the album. “WARBEAST is proud to be signed with HOUSECORE RECORDS. I like the fact that their expectations are high for what they want out of a band. They also have a way of creating this family vibe between the band and the label, while making it obvious that they believe in us. That is all the motivation we need to want to kick-some-ass for their label at all times. We wanted Philip to be our producer and to be involved in the creation of this album. Overall… Philip made it a very beneficial, but also a fun and memorable experience. Philip made this album even better… and that is what a producer is supposed to do.”

Label head and producer Philip H. Anselmo spoke about the sound of WARBEAST’S debut album Krush the Enemy, “WARBEAST is pure, relentlessly executed Thrash at its best. Absolutely RIPPING!”

Bloodied But Unbowed

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

Bloodied But Unbowed , a documentary on Vancouver punk will be showing a Director’s Cut premiere at the DOXA Documentary Film Festival during a gala on Thursday, May 13, in Vancouver.

Bloodied But Unbowed chronicles the late 1970s/early 1980s Vancouver punk rock scene. Vancouver filmmaker Susanne Tabata’s documentary tells a tale of rebellion and music — a fiercely independent scene created from nothing and played out in a microcosm of urban squalor. Told by its surviving stars whose accounts are suffused with both humour and gritty realism — a distinctly Vancouver vibe. A brutally honest story from the streets and stages of the West Coast through interviews, music, photos, and archival performances. Overarching those halcyon days of poverty and excess is the MUSIC — that moved its audience to their feet and seemed to validate their very existence.
Stay tuned for upcoming screenings or broadcast news.

HELLFEST 2010 – Beyond Damnation!

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

Hellfest

Hellfest is the place to be this year – with only 20,000 people a day attending the grounds are intimate and the bands intense. This year sees classic headliners Alice Cooper, KISS, Motorhead and Twisted Sister right alongside some truly groundbreaking, genre-defining, underground bands: Immortal, GODFLESH, Sigh, Carcass and Atheist. There is something for everyone… a focus in this year’s band selection is desert rock with Weedeater, Mondo Generator, Brant Bjork and the Bros and even a reformed, edited lineup version of Kyuss! Small town France is a hospitable place to take in such a show, amidst the wine fields and misty clouds. And for the thrashers of the bunch we’ve got Overkill, Annihilator, Exodus, Sepultura and the masters of it all… Slayer. Get your ass on the plane, red wine in hand, and see more bands in week than you’ll see in your hometown in years.

2010 Vancouver International Burlesquefest

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

2010 Vancouver International Burlesquefest Presents:
Rosie Needs A New Brain

rosie
Don’t miss the beautiful and fascinating one-woman showcase of Rosie Needs a New Brain; a journey through burlesque and disability, compassion and discrimination, illusion and reality, and the spirituality behind it all. Debut staging: Friday May 7, 9pm at 254 East Hastings Street, Vancouver BC.

Rosie Delight is a burlesque artiste. Unfortunately she is a burlesque artiste with a problem. Rosie has a demon inside her brain and it is slowly taking over her body, robbing her of her beauty, her ability to control her movements, to tolerate music, sound and light, to perform or even live like a normal human being. As she faces the bleak possibility of living out her days hiding in a cave with earplugs in, Rosie filters her current experiences through the lens of her past, the people who surround her and the isolation that is slowly enveloping her.

Rosanna Wijenberg, aka Rosie Delight, has been a burlesque and performance artist in Vancouver for over 10 years before being recently diagnosed with a very rare, progressive and disabling neurological movement disorder. She has performed with Fluffgirl Burlesque, the Ultravixen Peepshow, Empire Burlesque and Screaming Chicken Theatrical Society. Currently she is enjoying the life of a solo performer and sometime small show producer, director and playwright, including the fabulous Cinco de Murder staged last year to a very enthusiastic, sold out audience. Never pigeonholed she has straddled the worlds of classic, comedic, gore and artlesque and tends to stun people with her beautiful costumes and clever burlettas.

Both raw and spectacular, bitter and beautiful, this show will fuse art and burlesque in a new way, with dancing, yelling, magic, neuroscience, comedy, blood, tragedy, striptease, drama, back-up dancers, singing, small explosions, implied nudity, crying, infotainment, utter joy, brain surgery and possibly some puppetry all wrapped up in one 45 minute time slot with one very magnetic performer.

The 2010 Vancouver International Burlesquefest runs May 6-9, 2010. For more information go to: www.vanburlesquefest.com or contact crystalprecious@gmail.com
