2010 Vancouver International Burlesquefest Presents:
Rosie Needs A New Brain

Don’t miss the beautiful and fascinating one-woman showcase of Rosie Needs a New Brain; a journey through burlesque and disability, compassion and discrimination, illusion and reality, and the spirituality behind it all. Debut staging: Friday May 7, 9pm at 254 East Hastings Street, Vancouver BC.
Rosie Delight is a burlesque artiste. Unfortunately she is a burlesque artiste with a problem. Rosie has a demon inside her brain and it is slowly taking over her body, robbing her of her beauty, her ability to control her movements, to tolerate music, sound and light, to perform or even live like a normal human being. As she faces the bleak possibility of living out her days hiding in a cave with earplugs in, Rosie filters her current experiences through the lens of her past, the people who surround her and the isolation that is slowly enveloping her.
Rosanna Wijenberg, aka Rosie Delight, has been a burlesque and performance artist in Vancouver for over 10 years before being recently diagnosed with a very rare, progressive and disabling neurological movement disorder. She has performed with Fluffgirl Burlesque, the Ultravixen Peepshow, Empire Burlesque and Screaming Chicken Theatrical Society. Currently she is enjoying the life of a solo performer and sometime small show producer, director and playwright, including the fabulous Cinco de Murder staged last year to a very enthusiastic, sold out audience. Never pigeonholed she has straddled the worlds of classic, comedic, gore and artlesque and tends to stun people with her beautiful costumes and clever burlettas.
Both raw and spectacular, bitter and beautiful, this show will fuse art and burlesque in a new way, with dancing, yelling, magic, neuroscience, comedy, blood, tragedy, striptease, drama, back-up dancers, singing, small explosions, implied nudity, crying, infotainment, utter joy, brain surgery and possibly some puppetry all wrapped up in one 45 minute time slot with one very magnetic performer.
